Alley Outreach

FIDO partners with Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) every week in the field to address care and treatment ordinance violations for outside dogs in at-risk neighborhoods.  This program effectively helps the dogs by integrating the humane education and direct assistance FIDO can provide with the legal enforcement authority that IACS officers possess.

Each week, FIDO workers team up with an animal control officer and drive the alleys of low-income, often high-crime, neighborhoods of the city to find outside dogs in need of help.  Through this partnership, FIDO and IACS have been able to help hundreds of dogs live better lives.

The partnership has also helped hundreds of local dog owners provide improved care for their dogs, come into compliance with local ordinances, and keep their dogs in their homes and out of the local overcrowded shelter system.
