Aldo goes home

We have a happy 'tail' to share with you! Last week FIDO spoke to long-time animal advocate Xandra Hamilton, who was helping a kind man on the northwest side of Indy TNR some feral cats. He mentioned that a stray dog had been eating the food he put out (this had been happening since Christmas). They had never been able to get close enough to him to catch him and they were very worried about him.

Xandra contacted FIDO to see if she could borrow a large trap. They set the trap on Friday afternoon and caught him right away. He was scanned for a chip, but nothing showed up. FIDO volunteer Stacie Hurrle looked on Craigslist and Indy Lost Pet Alert Friday and found a dog who was lost around the same time in the same area. She contacted the owners and they were elated to get their Aldo back after almost two months of him being out in the frigid cold on his own! (Apparently, he was chipped, but it wasn't found when he was scanned the first time.)

The first picture is one Stacie took in the car on the way to Tails and Trails in Greenwood where Aldo spent the night until his owners were notified and claimed him. He was so exhausted he fell asleep sitting up and the slip lead around his neck worked its way down his skinny body. You can see from the pictures he is a loved dog and we are so happy he finally found his way home!
