Success Stories
463 dogs were vaccinated for parvo, distemper, and rabies at our free drive-through clinic on Sunday, July 12.

It goes without saying that our free vaccination clinic at the IndyHumane Downtown Clinic in partnership with SOAR: Street Outreach Animal Response Initiative and Indianapolis Animal Care Services had an overwhelming response from the public. The event was scheduled from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Cars started lining up at 8:00 am and we finished our last client after 5:30 pm. Lines of cars filled with anywhere from 1 to 8 dogs were lined along W. Michigan St all the way to Tibbs. We also had a second line down Warman almost to Washington at one point.
Our incredibly hard-working volunteers and staff worked non-stop in the heat and humidity all day. We even continued through the thunderstorm, moving operations into the garage bay. We also worked the waiting cars throughout the day to sign up close to 200 dogs and cats to be spayed/neutered for free at FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic and IndyHumane Downtown Clinic over the next month or two.

Most clients were patient and understanding during their very long waits as we worked as quickly as we could to provide free vaccinations to everyone. At around 2:30 with long lines still growing we needed to inform people that we would not have enough vaccines for everyone. Everyone, including the vets, vet techs, vet assistants, spay/neuter schedulers, IMPD off-duty security/traffic-control officer, Spanish interpreter, and event coordinators, worked non-stop all day to serve the public as quickly as we could.
With nearly 500 dogs vaccinated for parvo (not to mention rabies and distemper) this event definitely made an impact on decreasing the scourge of parvo in our community.
